At Coffee Flavor Oils, product quality, consistency, and customer safety are our highest priorities.
Under current U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) food allergen labeling regulations, our coffee flavor oils are manufactured using highly refined ingredients that are exempt from allergen declaration requirements when allergenic proteins have been removed through refining or processing. Because food allergies are triggered by specific proteins, highly refined ingredients that no longer contain allergenic proteins are not required to be declared under applicable FDA regulations.
FDA’s Nine Major Food Allergens
For your reference, the FDA recognizes the following nine major food allergens:
- Milk
- Eggs
- Fish
- Crustacean Shellfish
- Tree Nuts
- Peanuts
- Wheat
- Soybeans (Soy)
- Sesame
Flavor Ingredient Labeling
FDA regulations permit flavor ingredients to be declared simply as “natural flavor”, “artificial flavor”, or similar terminology on ingredient statements.
If a flavor ingredient contains protein derived from one of the FDA-recognized major food allergens, that allergen must be declared unless an applicable FDA exemption applies.
